betty is pissed that her friend was bragging about having a happy marriage, while hers and don's is on the rocks. betty's dark side has come, and she's totally sabotaging her "friend".
I thought that also, but her friend seemed happy to see Arthur, which is what confused me. Betty's darkness is interesting to me because at first she seems strong enough to tell Don she doesn't want the relationship they had, but she doesn't seem to be relishing her freedom one bit. I understand it's natural to be sad at the end of a relationship, but Betty doesn't seem to have gained much emotionally (yet).
I think her friend is happy because she's interested in that guy, and betty knew that...which why it's kind of evil for her to set up that situation. just because she's strong enough to tell don to get out, doesn't mean she's strong enough to stand on her own. -stop smoking cigarettes in bed betty...you're going to set the house on fire.-
